Making the Choice to Go Green

It started off with my wanting to find a way to make my own shampoo at home. Mostly because I was just curious to see if it would be any better than the store-bought stuff. Once I started to research it, I found more than I expected. There were countless different recipes using ingredients that most people probably already have in their cabinets. For instance, did you know that mayonnaise is one of the best things you can use to condition your hair with, especially dry hair? I bet you didn't! The oils and egg in the mayonnaise are great natural conditioners, drawing moisture to your hair and making it healthier. The vinegar in the mayo is also great because it flattens the cuticles along your hair shaft making your hair smoother and shinier.

Not only did I learn just how easy it was to make your own shampoo, but I also discovered just how bad the commercial products are for you, and that's certainly not limited to shampoo! Just about any commercially made product contains many harmful chemicals because it's a cheap way to produce massive amounts for the public. But by using those products, you're doing more harm than good to your body! The chemicals can irritate your skin, dry out your skin and hair, and certain chemicals are even believed to cause cancer. Not only that, but when  you rinse those chemicals down the drain, they add to the pollution of our planet And  let's not forget the pollution created in manufacturing these products.

I've always thought that taking care of mother nature is one of the most important things that people should be doing. So naturally, when I found out that I could do something good for the environment and myself, I decided it was time for a new hobby. I became obsessed with making as many things as I possibly can myself.

That was a little over a year ago. Since then, I've dabbled around with all kinds of different body care, hair care, and home products. Now, I've decided that it's time to share what I've learned and what I will continue to learn with anyone else who wants to live a greener lifestyle.
